Dr Northey believes in patient-focused and evidence-based healthcare and strives to achieve the best outcomes for his patients.
He undertook fellowship training in glaucoma at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, gaining expertise in incisional and microinvasive glaucoma surgical techniques in addition to medical and laser glaucoma therapies. He then completed a cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery fellowship at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. During this fellowship he gained experience in all aspects of corneal transplant surgery, complicated cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, and surface-based therapeutic and refractive laser procedures. Dr Northey was awarded the Sydney Hospitallers’ Norman Rose and the RANZCO Trevelyn-Smith travelling scholarships in support of his fellowship training.
He has published in peer reviewed medical journals, presented at national and international ophthalmology conferences, and is a clinical associate lecturer at the University of Sydney. Dr Northey is currently a staff specialist ophthalmologist at Sydney Eye Hospital.
